1808 Contract Musket for Vermont,

44 3/8 in., .71 caliber round barrel marked at the breech with eagle head over "CT" proof mark in a sunken oval cartouche, "US" and "V" as well as "VT" on the top of the barrel, the breech plug tang stamped "V" and the bayonet lug marked "H"; flat lock plate with pointed tail, worn spread wing eagle over "US" below the pan, the inside stamped "B" and the cock, tumbler, bridle, sear, and plate marked "2"; walnut stock with Charles Williams' inspector's mark on the left side behind the side plate, the number "20" stamped below the breech plug tang, and initials "AB" stamped just above the butt plate tang; iron furniture of proper form with round pewter thumbpiece stamped "VT" with sling swivels and steel rammer stamped "US" below the button head and with assembly number "VIIII" and threaded end.
