Major J.J. Earle, 9th Regiment New York State Artillery, Eagle Pommel Presentation Sword and Scabbard
1823. Beautiful sword with a minty tri-color blade. Rare find in mint condition with a fine inscription.

Gilded brass hilt, narrow counter-guard with spiral foliate quillon, ball and leaf pattern with trident and axes decorated langets, complex twisted bead and leaf knuckle bow connecting to a finely chased eagle's head pommel and back strap, carved grip; straight single-edge blade with false edge at the tip and single wide fuller, upper three-quarters of the blade with deep bluing, etched and boldly gilded foliate, spread wing eagle, Liberty cap, and panoply of arms decoration, with three bright panels with etched foliate decoration, marked "Warranted" near the hilt; gilded brass scabbard with elaborately engraved foliate and eagle with shield decoration, the back with engraved presentation
