69 caliber, 42" barrel. Standard configuration, “P” proof at breech, iron mounted. Lock with crisp “VIRGINIA / Manufactory” forward of cock and stamped vertically at tail of lock: “RICHMOND / 1819”. Assembly number "88" observed on all 3 bbl. bands, sideplate, trigger guard and rear sling ring stud.

You will not find a better example of Virginia Manufactory flintlock musket. Bayonet stud stamped “18” & proofs are found stamped on stock rear of trigger guard.

Fine condition, all original & matching, metal overall gray freckled patina, markings all crisp and well discerned. Stock is sound with sharp edges, 1/2" chip above sideplate at bariel channel. Mechanically crisp with clear smooth bore. Old collection tack on buttstock. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of James B. Taylor
